Introduction
From Web Management Committee Policies and Procedures
The Web Management Committee was established in September 2004 to provide user-focused guidance and oversight for the design, implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of the Libraries' public and internal production websites. The primary function of the Web Management Committee is management , not content maintenance. Content creation and content maintenance are the responsibility of the “owners” of that content. In most cases, individual content owners will be assigned responsibility for providing and maintaining content for the web pages pertaining to the activities and services of their particular library department or unit. Systems staff will provide tools for adding and updating content; until such tools can be deployed, they also will be responsible for coding and posting content to the site as needed. Systems staff will not be responsible for the accuracy or appropriateness of that content. The ultimate goal is to have available a suite of tools that will enable content providers having little or no knowledge of Web coding to create, post, and update content without Systems staff intervention.
