E. Ensuring Quality Control of Content
From Web Management Committee Policies and Procedures
The Libraries' Website is viewed by many people, and often serves as their first introduction to our services. It is very important that all information found on the site is accurate, current, readable, correct as to grammar and spelling, and presented in a way that will make information easy to find. Many people in the Libraries are jointly responsible for assuring quality control.
The Web Management Committee is responsible for the overall structure and style of the site, and for creating and communicating procedures that will encourage a high level of quality in the site.
Content Owners are responsible for the quality of the content they provide, including accuracy and currency of information, grammar and spelling, and a writing style that is appropriate for use on the website. For specific guidelines to follow, see Appendix II, "Writing for the Web." All web content must be reviewed by the content owner's supervisor or someone designated by the supervisor.
The Libraries Web Services Department is responsible for creating and maintaining the design framework and the tools that will allow content to be displayed in a highly usable and accessible way. Web Services staff are not responsible for accuracy, grammar, spelling, etc., except in cases where they are the content owners.
